can you get portable dvd players to play through the cars speakers? i want to buy portable dvd player monitors for the headrests of my 2005 equinox. would i somehow be able to play the sound through my speakers? both headrests have dvd players in them... they seem to be cheaper than the monitors and the spereate dvd player, and i dont want to have to cut my headrests to make room for the monitors.

I was going to buy 2 screen in car DVD player's but have decided to purchase just the one. The portable DVD players seem okay but I do not know if they come with a lead so that they can be powered by the cigarette lighter socket in my car. Are the portable DVD players only powered by battery or do they have a lead? The twin in car DVD players have a lead that enables them to be powered by the cigarette lighter socket but I'm not to sure if the portable DVD players have this function. Can portable DVD players really take the temperature extremes of car use? They sell lots of portable DVD players with straps for hooking to the back of carseats - but can these players really handle car interior temperatures. In the winter, temperatures could be subzero, would the LCD freeze? In the summer, with the sun beating on the car, the temperature could be 150 degrees f. Would anything melt? Are these things really designed to take that?

The issue - I've gone thru two dvd players so far (one coby, the other toshiba), so I am not sure what the deals is. I need some help with a portable dvd player car charger. I bought this dvd player for the car and bought the? charger separate yesterday. It is very confusing to me. On the side of the dvd player where I plug it in to charge it through the plug in the wall, it says DC IN 9-12V and under that it has a - sign inside a circle, with a line going to just a dot then the line continuing to another circle with a + inside of it. Now on the car charger I bought it has multi plugs and there is one that fits. On the part that plugs into the lighter it has a voltage selector and a polarity selector. On the voltage selector, do I put it on 9v or 12v (it starts at 3v and goes up to 12v), and on the polarity selector do I chose tip minus or tip plus? I have tried so many different ways in the car and I can't get it to work. I plugged the dvd player in the house charger and it works fine. I just don't know what settings to put this thing on. The instructions say: 1. Set the voltage selector to match the required voltage for your electronic equipment 2. Determine the polarity (+ or -) of the unit. The polarity can be found on the unit or in the owner’s manual. 3. Match polarity markings of the electronic device to the polarity switch on the unit. 4. Select the proper adapter and plug it into the DC input jack on the equipment 5. Plug DC adapter into cigarette lighter/power port.
