Can I Use a Portable DVD drive to install Vista?

Few weeks ago, the DVD drive in my computer failed and it rejected every CD I put in. Can I use a portable DVD drive to install vista?

1. Yes u can use ur portable DVD drive if ur DVD drive is USB compatible, and u should also have a system which supports booting from USB device
2. Check first if your motherboard's BIOS has the option to boot from an external device. Most recent boards have that option but many older ones may not.
