Dual Screen DVD Players

Do universal remotes work for portable dvd players/ or do they make one specifically for them.?

I have a Magnavox MPD850 Portable DVD player.

1. Got inexpensive universal remote for large buttons. Was trying to use it with RCA. DVD's code numbers were not listed in codes given. Cannot recall if Magnavox was listed. It had automatic code finder, but no go with mine. The term universal maybe bit misleading in my opinion.
2. Universal remotes that are available in stores today will work with most DVD players. If you have one that is maybe 5 years old or something, then it's not likely to work.
