What to do with old portable DVD player?

I have an old apex portable dvd player, and its battery doesn't work (if its plugged in it works), and the remote is lost. Is there an option to use the 4" screen for something else, or any other ideas are appreciated.

1. If you want to do some hacking, you can probably use the screen standalone. The player may have an A/V input mode which you can use.
