Dual Screen DVD Players

Full screen and smplayer and Ares video player.?

I have a pc running Winxp which I connect to my 37-inch wide-screen HDTV via HDMI. I use both monitors in combination in dual mode, which gives me the ability to display different things on each one and to drag things from one monitor to the other. It works fine and the picture is great. So far I have been using Dvix Player or Windows Media player to watch my movies and it works fine on both monitors. Lately Lately I've been using SM Player because I have a lot of DVD files and it plays all of them, My problem is that when I drag SM player onto my HDTV it displays a black screen, the audio is perfect but the screen is completely dark, no matter what size I choose for the player or what resolution I use for my HDTV. I noticed that if I use the player that comes with Ares the same thing happens, they both work great in all modes on my pc monitor but not on the HDTV, but the other player work on both. I checked all the settings and at this point I don't really know what to think. I don't pretend to be an expert on HDTV's and I really doubt it has anything to do with HDMI.

  1. That problem is explained in the smplayer FAQ: 22. (Windows) The video is displayed only in the 1st monitor but not in the 2nd, why? When you use directx as video driver (Preferences -> General) the video can only be displayed on one monitor. If you use instead directx:noaccel, gl or gl2 the video will be displayed in any monitor. Anyway if you prefer to use directx is still possible but you have to add the -adapter option in Preferences -> Advanced -> Options for MPlayer (Options field). -adapter 1 will display the video on the 1st monitor, -adapter 2 will display it on the 2nd monitor, and so on (I think).
